Microsoft Access is the premier Desktop Database System, installed and used on millions of PC's. The 2007 release made Access more accessible to those not already familiar with Database Design, however to create Robust Database Applications that can work within a Multi-User environment generally requires the developer to delve into the world of Database Programming. Like all the MS Office applications, MS Access includes Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) allowing the developer to build some very sophisticated solutions.
At Training IT we have been developing Access Applications for more than 10 years and have a vast range of industry experience to call upon, including Warehousing, Manufacturing, OHS, HR, Cataloguing- just to name a few! We following a standard methodology with each project which can be broken into 10 sections:
- Determine the Appropriate Database Architecture
- Review the Project Needs and Develop a Project Plan
- Create the Functional Document, this includes the following key points:
- Identify Core Systems Users
- Identify Tasks
- Document Data Flow
- Identify Data Elements
- Design, Create and Review Tables/Queries
- Develop a Prototype Interface / User Testing of Interface
- Design, Create and Implement Reports / Reporting Solutions
- Create, Test and Review Final System
- Build Help Systems / Database Documentation
- System Sign off and Project Handover
- Support and Maintenance Phase
We will be adding links to sample Databases in the coming weeks - these will be in the form of Demonstrations and/or Downloadable Demo's.
If you have an Access Development Project Requirements please contact us, and we will be happy to discuss your project with you further.
